🫡 The Jam are so good it’s crazy, feels odd calling them underrated but people at my school definitely wouldn’t know them - or at least by name that is. To me, it’s insane, because I feel like the music would resonate with a lot of people my age. As for being a top listener, their music is addictive so I’m not surprised, I’m just shocked how botters haven’t infiltrated them yet, they definitely should - they’re so overlooked nowadays!

How was The Happy Mondays gig? I considered going and also to Peter Hook at City Hall. I opted to wait to see Hooky in Sunderland in October as his set will be longer there than at City Hall and I don't like the other bands enough to accept a shortened headlining set. Will see him at Whitby Goth Weekend too playing UP & Closer in full. I had reservations about going to see him perform JD songs but I realise it's the closest we have to Ian. I often hope that the support act is boring as I am a mystery shopper who has to look at all the facilities the venue offers and I prefer not to do that in the middle of the headliners set! Unfortunately, M doesn't have a support act usually. Instead, he has a 30-40 minute video montage of songs and artists he likes which is interesting at first but tedious once you've heard it a billion times.

I thought the Happy Mondays were great, Bez was more lively than I expected for someone his age and the setlist was great, mostly 80s stuff I think. It was my first time at the City Hall as well, and while I think I prefer the NX (still got the Boiler Shop to go) it was still a good venue, sound held well and the vibe was still there (but that's probably due to the amount of people on coke and the Happy Mondays' music in general). How was Liam Gallagher & John Squire? Some bloke at Happy Mondays talked to me about it and I think said he was there - makes me regret not going but I'm not really big enough a fan of Oasis or Stone Roses, and haven't listened to the stuff they're doing to go the concert. I'm getting tickets for Peter Hook sometime next week, would love to see him at Sunderland doing a longer set but it's a faff getting to Sunderland. I haven't heard of the other acts playing outside of The Farm and I figure it's a great way to find new bands, but obviously mainly going

Yeah, Boiler Shop's venue puts me off as well considering when they aren't doing gigs it's used for bingo, but from photos it seems alright and some of the artists they've had before I don't necessarily deem as bingo-venue worthy, so I'm hoping it'll be alright as I'm seeing a few there this year. Hooky was great, I mean, he's no Ian Curtis but it's great hearing Joy Division songs live - and it feels a bit more authentic with him there. He played a 75 Minute JD set, I didn't leave with any songs I desperately wanted to hear. His rendition of Ceremony was amazing, I love what he does with that song live, or at least what he did with it at the O2. He also mentioned the 2nd gig he ever played was with Warsaw at the O2 City Hall after Penetration invited them to play there with The Adverts after opening with them for The Buzzcocks. I found that fact so crazy, and it makes me think that British music peaked in the 70s. I mean, there's no Buzzcocks/Adverts/Penetration style gigs anymore.

And it also makes me think it's crazy how I was seeing someone so solidified in musical legend. Joy Division influenced so much music and to see someone who was involved in that process was cool. The Wedding Present were great and so were Theatre Of Hate (though my stepdad tells me Spear of Destiny were better). I've never been a huge Stone Roses fan but I'd definitely see them if they came near me, I love 'I Am The Resurrection'. And for sure my favourite part of Stone Roses was never the vocals. Yeah, I mean so far I've only gone to gigs in Newcastle but later in the year there are a few I'm going to in Scotland and Manchester. I live around the Scottish Borders so it's harder to travel to gigs, but we can drive to Newcastle but anywhere else we have to get a train, which I don't mind but obviously it makes it more of a weekend-y thing with hotels rather than a night out. The musical tour sounds great! Manchester is definitely my favourite city music-wise. Haçienda just boosts it.

That's really cool about the bracelet. How did something like that even come up? I'm seeing The Chameleons in December, which I'm excited for - that bracelet is something you should cherish forever. It's a shame Morrissey hasn't played in Newcastle since before covid. It'd be a lot easier to see him in Scotland so I hope whenever he announce a new tour there's at least an Edinburgh/Glasgow gig, but I don't mind going down south to see him. That's honestly really admirable, it makes me wonder if any venues I've been to have been lacking in any way. It shouldn't be an afterthought for venues to have those facilities in place for those who have health issues like yourself or are disabled in any way. And yeah, it's crazy how it feels like the world almost turned on Morrissey - but I guess not much can be done. It's a shame how we most likely won't ever hear BOT or WMTWD. Anyways, I think I had a conversation with you on morrissey-solo, but it could be anyone else, LOL.
