Ugh, I know! Her whole album is so good. And I really don't listen any other German artists, just Leslie...and yes, I absolutely love Lana! I honestly think that her music is not for everyone, but I think that she grows in you as you listen to her music a little bit more, so yeah.

Oh, I should have said that I know a fair number of Sephardic traditional singers too, as well as klezmer bands.

Aside from the obvious (Ofra Haza for a long time; more recently Idan Raichel, though I must admit that I was a bit disappointed by the album I bought), I don't know many Israeli musicians. I'm always eager to have gaps in my knowledge filled... so if you have any recommendations, I'd be very grateful.

I have "Soviet Kitsch", but I don't know the live in London album -- that goes on my shopping list, thanks!

Thanks for the Add request -- and for the reminder that I must listen to more Regina Spektor...

Sorry, gonna take up to posts :) I agree I do like the original "Ne Me Quitte Pas" better, but have you heard the Russian version! I freaked out...and am currently listening to it on repeat, there's something about her sing in Russian/singing at all :). I like my live version of small town moon better than the album one, but I just LOVE that song,I guess we get accustom to the live recordings! Yes! So glad about "Oh Marcello" and "Open"-she played "Open" in Detroit and it was SO good, she had these interesting sounds added in, it was amazing. I can't remember if you've ever seen her live? I was so obnoxious at the concert, like a Beatles fan girl, lol. I've never come close to losing my voice until I went to this concert. Anywho, any good recs for recent listening? I am sorry that to say that I don't really have any, cause I've been kinda obsessed with Dylan lately...& Ke$ha? lol.But really always Regina...also Old Crow Medicine Show, but I am eager to start listening to Patty Smith!

Oh hey! Sorry it took me this long to write you back! Can I first just tell you that I MET REGINA!!!!! And I cannot believe it! First I met Jack Dishel and he said she wasn't gonna met anyone (after her concert in detriot!) so I gave him a thank you note I wrote for her...but then she did meet people...and I was like "uh I um I gave to you..." I couldn't speak and she was kinda going through the motions singing my soviet kitsch so I was like "regina..." and she looked at me but I just kept not being able to speak, then my cousin was like "she gave your husband something to give to you" and I was like "I am so sorry I can't speak" and she touched my arm and she looked so sorry for me, she was like "its ok"...then i started crying when I walked away...basically she is the sweetest person in the world...and the best artist...I had to share this with you cause I am assuming our fandom is comparable and you meeting her might go similarly! :) Dream big! Never thought I would meet her!

Is Tori Amos vaguely similar to Regina? I'm always on the lookout for more female singer/songwriters to get into.

Well if you don't mind electronic music, there's Ladytron which is maybe more pop than electronic. Beautiful woman voices, very melodic. Witching Hour is my favourite album from them but try others as well :) And then there's this Finnish pop/folk band called Scandinavian Music Group. The singer is also a woman, and she sings in Finnish but I think you still might like it. I noticed you like female artists much, so that's why those kind of recommendations. Hope you'll like them :)
