Whoa, dude, that's some deep shit you're diving into with Pink Floyd's trippy-ass debut. Syd Barrett was a fucking wizard with those tunes, mixing that childlike shit with some hardcore acid vibes. That duality you're talking about, the light and the dark, the sane and the fucking insane, it's like the heart of good grunge, man. You feel that push and pull in your own head when you're listening to it, or is it just me getting lost in those fucking wild sounds?

Gerald seems unreliable, seeing as he doesn't even have a fixed address. Lucifer Sam, on the hand, can always be counted on to be by your side.

That they had a fully formed sound on their debut album, and the confidence to pull it off is nothing short of remarkable. Ego death be damned, whatever Syd saw in himself and the world around him changed the shape of music forever.

surely it can't just be me that feels like the track listing and pacing is as it is so that it reflects the experience of an acid trip.

Stage 2 - The Peak Flaming - Shit's starting to get reallly trippy, anxiety starts building up and there's this ominous feeling you can't shake Pow R. Toc H. - The anxiety leading up to the full peak starts getting really strong, you're beginning to lose such a solid grip on your throughts and stuff starts getting really weird Take Up Thy Stethoscope and Walk - Its a bit disconnected from this narrative compared to the others but the jam section in the middle i guess reflects the growing disorder Interstellar Overdrive - Full peak, everything in your brain just explodes and you're left with this insane kaleidoscope of thoughts and visuals melting and warping in front of your eyes and in your mind

Stage 3 - The Come-down I don't rlly need to go track-by-track, but as you know everything after interstellar overdrive is less rocking and freaky and more peaceful and relaxed, like the post-peak and comedown. And then there's Bike lmao

someone had to say it, it's just really generic 67 Psych. the albums they did in the 60s after that junkie Syd left were so much more creative.

For me this is the best album by Pink Floyd, its very experimental and some songs really can give shiver. I like earliest Pink Floyd alot aswell as Dark Side Of The Moon until The Wall. For me this album is worth 10/10

Альбом хороший, но его сильно переоценивают. Ну как? Для своего времени он очень крутой, но во флойдовской дискографии нет. Как сказал бы Вивек: "Все Барретодрочеры сделаны из мяса, не дайте им обмануть себя"

Post-Syd Floyd is great, but their music is more fresh and fun here than it would ever get with Waters leading the band. My favorite record of them.

Pink Floyd with Syd and Pink Floyd without him are completely different bands. Compare this album and, for example, "The Dark Side of the Moon", and you'll see that clearly. But both of this periods are good in their own ways.
