Hell of a flex, to be able to put out this while recording Dark Side of the Moon and building up the momentum live, since they spent as much time on the road as in the studio during this period.

Counting from Piper At The Gates Of Dawn and with the single exclusion of perhaps Ummagumma and Zabriskie - I love Ummagumma but in a way it is a tad less consistent than the previous and later ones - it is simply inconceivable for me to pick a permanent favourite or "best" album out of these absolute deities of music's perfect discography. This here is an absolute MASTERPIECE, which in my perception lacks nothing in comparison to what was to come, (as were PATGOD and SOS, for that matter), it simply channels a different spectrum or ambience than, say, DSOFM and others. But the most remarkable thing about Pink Floyd is how every album is in some way so supremely well crafted and cohesive in effectively creating, presenting and unfolding, conveying a whole complex atmosphere of its own that permeates each and every track with such subtle yet strong and masterful consistency, it's uncanny almost. They're each an entire universe of their own, all magnificently conceived and compelling.

besides Arnold layne and see Emily plays (2 of my favourite pf songs ever) - haven't really listened to many others from their early period so shall defo check out the ones you suggested! Cheers very much! Also gotta agree with you on Summer '68 & Fat Old Sun - imo the best two on AHM, and the nile song on More is surprisingly heavy for Floyd, wow! As I don't know Obscured by Clouds too well I've get those 4 songs a listen now - again ty for the recs!

Oh, I see! You're more than welcome! In all sincerity, Pink Floyd is a rare case in which it seems that right from the very beginning they truly already were just incredibly good and genuine, had a distinctive style and a ton of talent right from the get-go; and in case you're not familiar with those, I'd recommend checking out "Relics", a compilation of early tunes, and definitely giving "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn", "Saucerful Of Secrets", "Meddle" and "Obscured By Clouds" a listen in their entirety, they're all a whole experience, cohesive and amazing in their own right. If you can find it/have access to it, "The Early Years" boxset is a great immersion in their early catalogue!

Incidentally, The Early Years compilation also features some great remixes from the albums, I loved the Obscured By Clouds remixes, for instance. They brought the vocals to a more prominent stance in some tracks and somewhat enhanced the renowned Pink Floyd style surround sound which was already present from the start, of course.

Still my favorite Floyd album. It's not as flashy as what was to come, but there's always been something about this one for me. It's the bridge between their psychedelia & concept albums. I love both eras and this is an amalgamation of them which I think is what has always drawn me to it. I also tend to be drawn to the obscure (heh) stuff for some reason.

Хороший альбом. Очень радуют треки Obscured By Clouds, Burning Bridges, Mudmen и Absolutely Curtains.

When I first heard this properly, I thought it sounded rather unfinished. And that's true. A lot of the tracks on here feel as if they could have been a lot better if the boys had taken a bit more time on them. But then I learned that they recorded this one quickly (I don't know the exact details) as a midway album between Meddle and Dark Side. So this is essentially a quick little project that they barely spent any time on. Then I realised truly how talented Rog and the boys were at this time. Now I fully appreciate how great this album is for what it is.

The movie was rather low-budget and I presume EMI wasn’t so keen to foot the bill for time at Abbey Road like they did with Meddle, so they recorded this in France I believe (and even took a break for a brief tour of Japan). The 2016 remix is respectable though it didn’t dim my appreciation of the original.

An amazing album, actually it is a grower. I think the reason it's not nearly as big as The Dark Side of the Moon is because in all honestly none of the tracks stick out as much as 'Money' or 'Time'. The entire album here is a gem, you have to want to take the time to listen and enjoy it. Like I said the tracks are growers.

So good and so underrated... This album reminds me a bit of The Dark Side of the Moon (they were recorded almost at the same time).

Soooo underrated. Far better than More, and even one my favorite Floyd's albums.

This and More are two of Pink Floyd's best albums that nobody has ever heard of. I'm in love with the ambience of this album.

The sound track to one of my favourite films, an album I've played far more often than The Wall.

This is actually one of my favorite Floyd albums. As I said about More, it's a shame that so many "big Pink Floyd fans" don't even know it exists.

I love this album, it really show Floyd experimenting with diffrent genres. The title track is an early Drone track. "Wots... Uh the Deal" is a folk song, "Stay" is a soft piano ballad. It's really unlike any other Floyd album.

I can't believe this album was created in 2 weeks, its a masterpiece, a unique Floyd album.

Would someone mind to retire those (1996 Digital Remaster) lines in the song titles? They're quite annoying.
