In my opinion it is better than the piper, the aura of syd barret is no longer present except in the last song but in exchange we have better structured songs unlike in the previous album. Of course, bike is a better silly song than corporal clegg.

Gostei bastante desse (não sei se eu já tinha escutado antes na minha adolescência então pareceu a primeira vez escutando). Eu também lembrei de algumas músicas do show que eles fizeram lá em Pompeii

This is an AMAZING album and its pure quality all throughout. The 5 of them did really great on 'Set The Controls For The Heart of the Sun', and Syd's other song he contributed on 'Jugband Blues' is a masterpiece. Not quite on the level of Piper, but a VERY worthy follow up and one of their great albums

When I was a kid, like 10-11 years ago, I always skipped this album besides Jugband Blues, even though I like(d) Syd's music. Today I decided to listen to it again, not expecting anything, yet I realized how good it is, even up par with their debut. I was so naive... maybe I wasn't mature enough? Really an album ahead of its time.

I really adore this album too, I'm glad you ended up loving it! I rank it sixth overall and the compositions still blow me away. It truly feels like a band in unity.

I think I need to revisit Pink Floyd again. Even though I know their discography, I haven't hear it on detail since 2013 maybe?

doesn't have anything like "astronomy domaine" and "interstellar overdrive", but as a whole album it's about as good as if not better than the piper at the gates of dawn.

This has to be Pink Floyds best album in my opinion, full of experience of musical genius. Exiting songs. I may be crazy but this is better than The Dark Side Of The Moon.

Hard to compare this gem with Piper. They're both ingenious in their own ways. But boy, how I love those early records.

Doesn't match up to Piper in my estimation. It's a very good album, particularly given the circumstances surrounding it, but Piper was a masterpiece and one of the 3 or 4 best rock albums of 1967. The guys aren't up to the level of songwriting prowess they'd develop just within the next couple of years, but there is a pleasing sense of experimentation and adventurousness that only got more pronounced on Ummagumma and Syd's "Jugband Blues" is devastating.

This one is much better and more mature than Piper. Also happens to be one of my favorite albums ever.

Releasing this after The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn must have been really disapponting for their fans. It's ok... But not even a cult record.
