Or, maybe hessel-z and others prefer The Blue Mask? Lou did lots of great stuff after Berlin, and if you like his guitar work, as many do, then some of his best output is to be found on the records where he was joined by Richard Quine.

The Blue Mask is a hipster choice, honestly. It was the less terrible of the albums to come after Transformer and Berlin, indicating that maybe, perhaps, Lou would start producing work that wasn't disappointing in the context of his earlier stuff. Then he went down a hole again.

A wonderful piece of art that performs one act of emotional gymnastics after another. From the no-nonsense approach of "Vicious" to the bombastic "Andy's Chest", and from the ominous yet soothing medleys of "Perfect Day" to the vivid description of The Factory's denizens in "Walk on the Wild Side"; this is a masterpiece through and through.
