Don't think they're trying to "copy" them, they just totally worship Chuck Schuldiner and Death and say themselves they just wanna pay tribute to the band and the great man. I think it's killer they're given that Chuck was cheated out of life so we're getting a little bit of his spirit in new music.

Great point, but Solstice aren't a direct tribute to Chuck and his legacy nor to they claim to be, unlike Gruesome, I suppose you could pass them off as a copycat but the band kinda make it clear that the whole point of the band is to worship Chuck and Death quite literally by the riff. I don't believe they think they're doing something new or wish to take the sound and claim it as their own, it boils down to pure admiration really. They were all super cool and just came across as wanting to honor the man and keep that very special sound alive in a different form. I've rambled on too much but I've had beer so fuck it.

would be interesting to see what this band could do after being a tribute to Death

It's way too much alike Death, same kind of riffs, solos and arrangements. And this second full lenght has nothing different from their previous album. There is no evolution in their sound or any kind of surprises. However, I still enjoy what their are doing, cause I really like Death's sound, but Gruesome is far less interesting.

Well I agree that there's nothing new under the sun on their sound but they are enjoyable. It's like listening to new albums by ''Death''.

New album is their best yet, but what you espect when Spiritual Healing is your main insperation.

Twisted Prayers is a good second full-length album. I've only listened to half of it and it totally reminds me of Spiritual Healing.

Dimensions Of Horror Musically, this could not be more spot on. Matt Harvey's voice is deeper and more guttural than on the last record, really tapping into that 'horror' vibe; the guitars and bass fuse together in one wonderfully sludgy, but efficient, mess; and the drums are absolutely sublime in their chaotic clang. The song structures beautifully emulate the binary form of early Death material - catchy and simple, whilst simultaneously virtuoistic in their execution.

It's a Death worship band, Matt Harvey is a real oldskool Metal guy. Like his bad Exhumed it's like a Carcass clone.

Dimensions of Horror definitely sounds like Scream Bloody Gore. It's pretty damn raw! I wish it was a full-length album, not an EP.

Ed Repka's cover of "Dimensions of Horror" is among the most impressive he ever created... so great to see him still delivering such breathtaking artwork!

New track 'Forces of Death' streaming everywhere now... thanks, Relapse! This one sounds totally oriented by "Scream Bloody Gore", let's see how it goes in May.

I look forward to the next Gruesome album. Gruesome is one of the best bands ever formed in the 2010's! :D
