So heavy for Elliott's sound standards (haven't listened to his work with Heatmiser yet), i love it. Wish there were some heavier tracks like this and "Last Call"; when i mix these two and end it with "Kiwi Maddog", it's a total vibe.

"What are you singing on the chorus?", "That’s why I didn’t print the lyrics!" [laughs], "It sounds like ‘Sugar lift me up’, is it ‘sugar’ something?", "Yeah, but I can’t say because it’s too stupid. I have no idea what I meant by it. At the time it made perfect sense but now I just don’t want anybody to know."

Ziggy-Dust, he just didn't like the lyrics. he said they were embarrassing. so he kept the lyrics out of the booklet.

I'm like 99% sure it's "sugar lick me up, it's my lie." I've been listening to a multitude of live performances of this song. If nothing else, it's most certainly lie and not life.

I hear a set of three syllables where "chewing" would be so I don't think it's that. I think "Sugar lift me up, it's my lie"

Actually Ziggy and YeVlad each have it half right. In an interview with Spin magazine, Elliott said he DID write it when on something and didn't put it in the booklet because it made little sense.

This is the only song that doesn't have its lyrics printed on the little paper that comes with the LP. I read that's because Smith didn't even remember writing the song, he was so high or something.
